Representing more than 99 percent of all businesses and employing half of all private sector employees, small businesses are the lifeblood of our local economy. We must do everything possible to foster opportunities for our local businesses to succeed.

More private-sector jobs are created when local government can attract quality mid-sized businesses too. Attracting carefully selected, light companies to Gloucester’s business park will create new jobs and broaden our county’s tax base beyond mainly property taxes This helps keep our taxes low for everyone.
Ken Gibson will work to help Gloucester diversify our economy to create more local jobs and achieve greater long-term economic prosperity.

Enhancing Education
One of the first requirements of a healthy economy and a prosperous community is a well-educated workforce. In a global economy, students cannot achieve a first-class economic future without a first-class education.
Supporting and enhancing our local schools will provide current and prospective businesses with talented, young workers equipped to help them succeed.
Top-notch schools serve the entire community by providing needed gathering spaces, fostering excellent health care and other local services and products, and ensuring that property values remain strong.
As a Supervisor, Ken will ensure that money allocated to education makes its way to the classrooms—where it is spent on teachers, technology, and key instructional needs.
Expanding Access to High Speed
Broadband Internet
With only 86 percent of Gloucester residents having access to broadband, thousands are left without reliable internet service, including a significant amount of residents in the Petsworth District. Our nation’s recent pandemic highlighted the necessity of having high-speed internet access as offices transitioned to homes, and kitchen tables replaced classrooms—putting our local quality of life at risk.
Ken will work to expand broadband access for the delivery of basic amenities such as education, virtual health care for patients in remote areas, and the opportunity for business owners and employees to work remotely and compete with larger competitors.
